KALW Commits to VoiceBox

Sunday, June 21, 2009

In light of the success of the first four broadcasts of the five-part pilot series of VoiceBox, NPR affiliate radio station KALW 91.7 FM has made a commitment to pick up the show on a regular basis starting in the Fall.

"I am delighted with VoiceBox. Response to the show has be very positive," said Matt Martin, KALW General Manager. "I look forward to bringing Chloe and the series back as a regular fixture of our weekly programming in the coming months."

"Piloting VoiceBox over the past five weeks has been an enormous thrill," said VoiceBox producer and presenter Chloe Veltman. "I'm grateful to all the guests I've had on the show -- and the many fine vocalists whose music we've played during the course of the series so far -- for enriching our collective understanding of the art of singing and of the local and global vocal music scene. I can't wait for VoiceBox to go full-throttle in the Fall."

VOICEBOX IS SEEKING FINANCIAL SUPPORT

A non-commercial radio station with strong community ties, KALW produces much of its programming (especially music programming) with the help of a crew of dedicated independent producers who contribute their efforts to the station on a volunteer basis.

As such, we are now looking for funding to make the proposed official launch of VoiceBox in the Fall a sustainable reality. If you know of any potential funders for the show, be they grant-makers, foundations, angel investors, sponsors or simply individuals who love singing, please contact us here.
